  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or sausage until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add marinara sauce to the meat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, fresh basil, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  5. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and lay them flat on a clean surface.
  6. Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce at the bottom of a baking dish.
  7. Layer three lasagna noodles on top. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over noodles, followed by a third of the mozzarella and another layer of sauce.
  8. Repeat layering: noodles, ricotta, mozzarella, and sauce. Finish with a final layer of noodles, sauce, and top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  9. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is golden brown.
  10. Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before serving to allow layers to set.
