This delightful recipe combines the zesty brightness of fresh orange juice with the savory goodness of garlic, creating a mouthwatering glaze that coats tender chicken legs perfectly. The sweet-tart flavor of the orange juice balances beautifully with the rich umami of soy sauce and the sweetness of honey, making each bite a delightful explosion of taste.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 cup fresh orange juice (about 2-3 medium-sized oranges)
In a bowl, whisk together the fresh orange juice, minced garlic, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, ground ginger, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
In a large resealable plastic bag or a deep dish, add the chicken drumsticks and pour the marinade over them, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour or up to 8 hours.
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). If grilling, preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top. Arrange the marinated chicken drumsticks on the rack, discarding the marinade.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C). If grilling, cook for 20-25 minutes, turning occasionally.
During the last 5 minutes of cooking, brush the drumsticks with the remaining marinade for an extra sticky glaze.
Remove the chicken from the oven or grill, let it rest for a few minutes, then sprinkle with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
