Description
A family favorite recipe for tender, juicy meatballs simmered in a rich, savory gravy, served over creamy mashed potatoes or in a warm sub.
Ingredients
Scale:
- 1 pound Ground beef (or turkey for a lighter option)
- 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 large Egg
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
- 2 tablespoons Olive oil
- 2 cups Beef broth
- 2 tablespoons Flour (for thickening)
- Optional: Parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes, or until browned and cooked through.
- While the meatballs are baking, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Once hot, sprinkle flour into the skillet and whisk for 1 minute, creating a roux.
- Slowly add beef broth to the roux, whisking constantly until smooth and thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Once meatballs are done, add them to the gravy and simmer for an additional 5 minutes. Stir gently to coat.
- Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve hot over mashed potatoes or as meatball subs with gravy.
