A perfect Gingerbread Latte captures the magic, combining espresso with a homemade gingerbread syrup that’s both easy to make and utterly delicious.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 shot (about 1 ounce) Espresso or strong brewed coffee
6 ounces Milk (dairy or non-dairy)
2 tablespoons Homemade gingerbread syrup
1/4 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
For topping Whipped cream (optional)
Pinch for garnish Ground nutmeg
Instructions
Prepare the homemade gingerbread syrup by combining 1 cup of water, 1 cup of brown sugar, 2 teaspoons of ground ginger, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and a pinch of ground cloves in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then simmer for 5 minutes. Let it cool.
Brew your espresso or strong coffee. If you're using a coffee maker, aim for a strong brew to stand up against the flavors of the syrup.
In a small saucepan or a microwave-safe container, heat your milk until warm but not boiling. Use a milk frother or whisk to froth the milk until creamy.
In your favorite coffee mug, add the espresso or coffee and pour in the gingerbread syrup.
Carefully add the frothed milk to the mug, stirring gently to combine.
Top with whipped cream if desired, and sprinkle a pinch of nutmeg and cinnamon over the top for an extra festive touch.
