Description
A comforting, crowd-pleasing creation that combines flavorful sausage, melty cheese, and crisp tortillas.
Ingredients
Scale:
- 1 pound Sausage (your choice: pork, chicken, or turkey)
- 2 cups Shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a blend)
- 4 large Tortillas (flour or corn)
- 2 tablespoons Olive oil or cooking spray
- Sour cream (for serving) - optional
- Salsa (for serving) - optional
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, add the sausage. Cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 6-8 minutes.
- Remove the cooked sausage from the skillet and set it aside, leaving any drippings in the pan.
- In the same skillet, place one tortilla flat. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese evenly over the tortilla.
- Add half of the cooked sausage on top of the cheese, followed by another layer of cheese.
- Top with a second tortilla. Cook for 3-4 minutes or until the bottom tortilla is golden brown and the cheese begins to melt.
- Carefully flip the quesadilla using a spatula and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from skillet and let it cool for a minute before slicing into wedges. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
- Serve warm with sour cream and salsa on the side.
