An unexpected yet delightful twist on a classic comfort food. These savory veggie burgers are packed with flavor, making them a hit not just for vegetarians but for meat lovers too!
Ingredients
Scale:
4 cups Green cabbage, finely chopped
1 cup Canned black beans, drained and rinsed
1 cup Shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
1/2 cup Breadcrumbs
1 Egg, beaten
2 cloves Garlic, minced
1 Onion, finely chopped
1 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Pepper
Olive oil for frying
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped cabbage, black beans, shredded cheese, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, minced garlic, chopped onion, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
Using your hands, form the mixture into patties, about 1/2 inch thick. This should yield approximately 6-8 burger steaks.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a drizzle of olive oil. Once hot, add the burger steaks, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. If they start to brown too quickly, lower the heat to ensure the insides cook through.
Once cooked, remove from the skillet and let them sit for a couple of minutes before serving.
