Instructions

  1. Spread about 1 tablespoon of softened butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
  2. On the unbuttered side of four slices, layer the sliced turkey breast evenly. Top with 2 slices of cheddar cheese and sprinkle the crumbled bacon over the cheese.
  3. If desired, add a layer of fresh spinach or arugula, and a few slices of tomato or avocado on top of the bacon.
  4. Place the remaining four slices of sourdough on top, buttered side facing out, creating a sandwich.
  5. Preheat a large skillet over medium heat.
  6. Place the sandwiches in the skillet, cooking for about 3-4 minutes or until the bottom is golden brown. Carefully flip each sandwich over and cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes.
  7. Keep cooking until the cheese is melted and gooey, and the bread is crispy and golden all around.
  8. Once done, remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them cool for a minute before slicing in half.
